I’m still balancing two writing projects - the outlining (reoutlining) of my sci-fi climate disaster novel and the bunker horror short story. It’s feeling more like a high-wire balancing act every week. Writing projects need time more than they need anything and giving both of these the time they deserve is proving a bit tricky.
But in other, happier news, it’s still the festive Christmas season and we are making the most of it!
Sunday
Gingerbread lattes and cinnamon swirls and a drive down to a festive little farm shop in the woods with a winding path adorned with Christmas lights.
Monday
Messing with my routine never ends well. For a number of reasons, the typically writing group in the morning day didn’t materialize. I stayed home and was planning on going into town later to meet up with the boyfriend to do some Christmas shopping.
So I did laundry, meal prepped for the week. I did not do any writing. I thought I would get the same amount of work done as any Monday morning but instead I was continually distracted by anything and everything.
I did squeeze in some editing, sitting in a coffee shop while waiting for the boyfriend to get off work. I’m in the editing phase of this short story where I read through a copy of the short story and make copious notes. Things like, “this doesn’t work,” “that doesn’t make sense,” “and “move this further up.” The point is to be brutal, to poke at the story and see if it can stay on its feet. I made it through the first few pages of the story on Monday.
